World of Warcraft Gameplay Panel

A star studded line up took on a barrage of player questions. Due to the huge variety of topics I have bulleted some of the most interesting points.

  • Deathwing will make an appearance at some stage in the future.
  • Wrath of the Lich King will ship with plenty of daily quests.
  • There will be plenty of interaction with Arthas throughout Northrend.
  • Tier tokens will be usable to purchase on tier lower PvP item.
  • In the first content patch after Lich King ground mounts will be able to swim.
  • Shadow Priests are due a bit of a damage buff.
  • Holy Paladins are deserved of some offensive abilities to match the offensive abilities of priests with mana burn, druids with cyclone and shaman with shocks.
  • Each of the crafting professions are intended to have a best in slot item similar to the engineering goggles.
  • They have written a story for the World of Warcraft movie, it is coming.
  • Mana regeneration and tuning classes to have a 'good' amount of mana may still be required.
  • Player skill should be what dictates who is doing the most DPS, not their class.
  • They are looking at ways to skip the long speeches some bosses deliver before you can engage them.
  • Achievement points will not be spendable for 'gear' only 'fluff'.
  • They would like to pursue more randomised dailies so stop them from being too receptive.
  • Hunters might get their aspects off the global cool down.
  • They do like the idea of PvE arenas, but there are a few issues which would have to be dealt with first.
  • Perhaps stances for warriors wont have a penalty.
  • They have a lot of great ideas for dungeon/raid encounters; we can expect some different cool mechanics that are completely new to us. There is a future raid which will use siege weapons and destructible terrain.
The panel did a good job answering the player questions, they also too some of the crap without breaking a sweat. One question which wasn't answered “why does it cost me $70 to have a tiny authenticator shipped to me?”, I guess I’ll have to ask that on the forums.
